Sports administrator Brian Thorburn, the non-executive director of Prince Harry's Sydney Invictus Games, has sold his Lane Cove home.

He and wife Ally paid $880,000 for a 1,005 square metre plot in 2002 before building the home a few years later.

They were asking $3.8 million at its recent auction through Simon Harrison and James Bennett at Belle Property Lane Cove.

The three level home has four bedrooms, a games room with cinema system and fully fitted bar and a tropical garden with swimming pool.

Thorburn was a director at Australian Rugby Union for 11 years and most recently held the CEO role at the Australian Professional Golfers Association.
