the beachfront Main Beach Parade strip is set for a new high-end apartment tower.

Gold Coast businessman and hotelier Bruce Donnachy has been given the green light by the Gold Coast City Council for a 20-level, 16-apartment tower at 3571 Main Beach Parade.

The plans were scaled back a tad from what was proposed nearly 12 months ago. Initially Donnachy sought 24 apartments across 20 levels. Now they're all full-floor apartments.

Local architecture firm BDA were tasked with creating a coastal, luxury residential building that provides a five-star resort feel, with a range of large, sizeable apartments.

“The timeless architecture will set a new benchmark in the Main Beach Precinct,” BDA said in their submission to the Gold Coast City Council.

 

“The architecture of the proposed luxury residential development is composed of simple curved and linear forms, white concrete spandrels, a textured and timeless material palette of travertine stone and timber screening, creating a rich and layered coastal effect.”

“A series of planters on the facade add a layering and softening of the built form, reinforcing the importance of sub-tropical design.”

The project offers a mix of apartment types. The majority of apartments have three bedrooms. There's two-level penthouses, and a two-storey beach house.

“The mix of high-end liveable apartment types provided will provide a five-star level of housing that is lacking in the Main Beach precinct," BDA added.

The communal recreation facilities containing gym, multipurpose room, pool, pool-deck and barbecue area are located at Level 10, allowing an opportunity for a building break and greenery to the facade.
